WPOW is committed to increasing the accessibility of our programming. Financial hardship is a reality for many, especially within journalism where shrinking newsroom budgets coupled with pay gaps have left emerging talent underpaid in an increasingly competitive market.
In an effort to amplify gifted photographers of all backgrounds, WPOW is offering five scholarships for our 12th annual event for female-identifying emerging visual journalists to cover the ticket cost. (NOTE: Applicants who are not offered a scholarship will be offered a discount, so no need to worry about the early bird ticket price ending before recipients are notified.)
The scholarship is open to any student photographer or photographer with five years or less of professional experience. Applicants will be judged primarily on financial need, however special consideration will be given to those who identify with historically underrepresented communities -- including women of color and queer folk. The deadline is 11:59PM, Tuesday, August 15th, 2023. We will notify you about our decision on August 30th, 2023.
